For Immediate Release
September 3, 2010

Labor Day is September 6th. It began as a celebration of the labor movement in America, then was voted as a National Holiday in honor of workers by Congress on June 28, 1894. Now it’s just another holiday celebrating the end of summer.
In the early days, America’s labor force enabled this country’s citizens to achieve the highest standards of living and to produce the greatest production of goods and services the world has ever known. Within 200 years, America’s labor force had created something here in America, that Europeans weren’t able to enjoy – the American Dream. Great American presidents knew that free markets and capitalism worked best when government stayed out of the way.
Today, thanks to Mr. Obama and members of Congress like Barney Frank, our free market system is dying. Burdened with high taxation and suffocating regulation, our successful capitalist model is purposely being destroyed by the Obama administration with the help of Congressmen like Barney Frank through the systematic elimination of the traditional ideals of individualism, hard work, opportunity and success.
Today, Congressmen like Barney Frank see the laborer not as an individual with hopes and dreams for a better life for themselves and their children, but as a vote in exchange for empty promises that will keep him employed on the taxpayers’ dime. Mr. Obama and socialist cronies like Barney Frank offer collectivism in place of individualism, and socialism in place of capitalism. The American worker deserves better than this, and if you send me to Congress, I pledge that I will fight for smaller government by putting forth initiatives to cut the chains that shackle the backbone of our American economy - small businesses. I will work for smaller, more efficient government by offering legislation to cut, not trim, useless and redundant departments and programs, and I won’t give in to the go-along-to-get-along mentality we’ve seen so much of from progressive Republicans in Congress. Go to my website at www.sholleyforcongress.us and read my Pledge to the People. Those who know me, know my word is my bond.
The party’s over for career politicians, and it’s time to get our affairs in order so that the American people can be proud once again to lead the world in standards of living and production of goods and services. The American work ethic is not dead; it’s just been beaten up by bureaucrats like Barney Frank.
It is appropriate, therefore, that we pay tribute on Labor Day, not to the labor unions or to the labor bosses, but to the people who have made this nation great – the American worker.

Earl Sholley
Republican Candidate, MA 4th Congressional District

For Immediate Release
September 3, 2010

The Effectiveness of the Amber Alert System.

“Amber’s Story” which ran on Lifetime on Thursday evening is a tragic one. Amber Hagerman was 9 years old when she was abducted and later found murdered in Arlington Texas in 1996. The “Amber Alert” Law is a government-run tracking system named after Amber Hagerman that targets child kidnappers, molesters, and pornographers, and provides matching grants to states and communities for equipment and training for the network which distributes information about kidnapped children and their abductors quickly, through radio and television broadcasts and electronic highway signs.
“Amber Alert” is responsible for the safe return of thirteen children in Massachusetts alone. Our children are our future, and our duty as citizens and elected representatives, is to put into place legislation that aids in keeping them safe.
Barney Frank voted against the “Amber Alert” Bill on April 10, 2003. He was not only the only member of the Massachusetts Delegation to do so, but he was only one of 25 congressmen out of 435 to vote against it. The vote was 400-25 in the House, and 98-0 in the Senate. He said at the time, that he voted against it because of Republican amendments to the bill.
He said that he couldn’t support such stringent proposals from Republicans because “the penalties were too severe for child pornographers and pedophiles.” Too severe!
Barney Frank has a history of voting against the values and priorities of the people in the 4th Congressional District, and he’s severely out of touch with family values by voting in a way that would put all of our children at risk.
I can promise the citizens of the Massachusetts 4th Congressional District, that, if elected, I will work toward protecting the most vulnerable citizens of the Commonwealth – our children.

Earl Sholley,
Republican Congressional Candidate
MA 4th Congressional District

The Sholley campaign is pleased to announce that Ron Villareale has agreed to serve as Campaign Manager. Ron Villareale represented the Governor and people of Massachusetts as he carried a proclamation to the governors across America on horseback. Because of the national media attention during his historic ride, the license plates of the state were changed to “The spirit of Massachusetts is the spirit of America”.

For almost two years, through summer heat and winter cold, Ron was welcomed by Governors and the Mayors of every city and town that he crossed in America. The theme of the project was POWs/MIAs,” We as Americans have never left men behind.” Dressed in colonial clothing to remind America of her founding principles, Ron was asked to address radio and television talk shows, veterans’ organizations, conventions, schools and civic organization. He addressed city council meetings, chambers of commerce and many other forums.

To millions of Americans across America, Ron represented the very meaning of patriotism. He restored faith for many Americans that the spirit of America is still strong, still alive.

Ron was the district manager for Jeff Beatty’s 2008 senate campaign on the south coast, much of which comprises the 4th Congressional District. Ron understands that incumbent Barney Frank has never been more vulnerable than he is this year. Challenger Earl Sholley has built a strong base of support over the years. He stands the best chance to unseat Barney Frank. This election is too important to be left to political new comers.

The time is right; the time is now to unseat Barney Frank.

Feel free to call Ron at 774 501 2156 or contact him at rvil@sholleyforcongress.us

August 18, 2010

A funny thing happened on the way to the new Health Care bill. Remember when President Obama signed that Executive Order for Bart Stupak promising no federal funds would be dispersed for abortion in order to get the votes of 14 Democrats who claimed to be pro-life? Stupak became a hero, didn’t he? Remember how Sarah Palin was savaged by the president and his media for claiming that the Health Care bill had sections in it which would lead to Death Panels?

Before the ink was dry on the president’s Executive Order, $160 million was given to the state of Pennsylvania to pay for mandated high risk insurance pools geared to cover all “legal” abortions. Within days another $37 million went to the state of New Mexico for the enrollment of individuals for benefits to be received beginning in August and including an elective for abortion services once a deductable was paid.

Page 53 of Maryland’s Health Insurance Program’s “2010 Plan Year Certificate of Coverage” indicates the use of federal funds for abortion under “Maternity Services”.

Obama’s Pre-existing Conditions scam in the Health Care bill is being directly administered in 21 states across the country to the tune of $5 billion. Another 29 states and D.C. will administer PCIPs through their own state programs.

The pro-life community has been vigilant and the recent outcry by the National Right to Life organizations throughout the country has shined a beacon of light on ObamaCare, leaving the HHS secretary scrambling for excuses.

President Obama also promised the American people that they would “maintain their right to a variety of health choices”. In the same breath, he appointed Donald Berwick – the man who stated in a public forum that “healthcare is by definition redistributional” – to head Medicare & Medicaid.

The UK Telegraph recently discovered that the FDA advisory Board has dropped its endorsement of the drug Avastin which is used to treat colon cancer and advanced breast cancer citing “cost effectiveness” for their decision.

When healthcare is restricted or rationed by government bureaucracies, people die. Once the approval of a drug is revoked, insurance companies stop paying for it. When a government bureaucracy becomes the decision-maker in what costs insurance companies are allowed to incur to save your life, these government bureaucracies indeed become “Death Panels”.

It’s long past time for Americans to hear the truth about ObamaCare and the atrocious Health Care bill that was rammed down the throat of the American people who never asked for it, don’t want it, and are determined to vote come November for candidates who promise to repeal it!

I am that candidate.

I ask for your vote on Primary Day, September 14th. As your elected representative of the 4th Congressional District of Massachusetts, I will bring your concerns to Washington.

Earl Sholley

For Immediate Release

Norfolk, MA – May 2, 2010 -The recent regulations imposed by Jane Lubchenco, the former board member of the Environmental Defense Fund and President Barack Obama’s choice to head NOAA, further restricts the livelihood of commercial fishermen in New England. The jack-boot of government regulations already affects the local fishing industry, and they’re already hurting from catch limits, high taxes, high insurance premiums and other related costs. These are basically middle class families carrying on a tradition that is being systematically eliminated through government over-regulation.This regulation will have disastrous effects, as many fishermen will be forced out of business. This is a death blow to the family fisherman in the 4th Congressional District and throughout Massachusetts. The only beneficiaries of these regulations will be large foreign and domestic corporations.

The new fishing regulations fly in the face of traditional American work ethics that include self reliance, independence and opportunity which lead to prosperity. These destructive regulations make no sense, especially during period of recession, where some areas of the Southcoast like New Bedford, are experiencing an unemployment rate of almost 20 percent. This is more evidence that the current administration and Congress are out-of-touch with the average working man.

Earl Sholley, candidate for Congress in the 4th Congressional District is a strong advocate for the family fisherman, and has spoken out on this vital issue which deals directly with the Southcoast fishing industry. He believes that though Congressman Barney Frank talks a good game when it comes to helping fishermen, actions speak louder than words. The fisherman need action now! Remind Congressman Frank that the fishermen should be allowed to control their own industry. The first maxim of law is that it should do no harm. Janet Lucbencheno should be fired immediately, and these harmful regulations should be reversed. We don’t need and don’t want large corporations or the government running the fishing industry. Save the family fishermen!

We must balance the budget, and restore confidence in the US currency. The Congress cannot continue to spend more money than it takes in. I will vote to continue the tax cuts, and give additional relief to families… Government spending cannot stimulate the economy. It is a drag on the economy. The number one issue for most families is jobs. Will there be one next week, how do we pay the bills, and how can I best take care of my family? We have a tradition of hard work, opportunity, and prosperity in this country. We cannot let misguided socialism or the Congress destroy our American legacy.

We must balance the budget, and restore confidence in the US currency. We cannot continue to spend more money than we take in. That is the main cause of the hidden tax of inflation. I will vote to continue the tax cuts, and give additional relief to families. We can balance the budget by downsizing the federal bureaucracy by 50% over the next ten years. I will propose legislation to fully privatize Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Let them compete in the private sector without the implied support of the taxpayer.

I will vote to suspend the capital gains tax for two years to encourage investment in the markets and American industry. I will vote to combat inflation by strengthening the American dollar. I will vote to reward businesses with tax incentives for staying in America and penalizing them for moving to other countries. The best way to do that is to eliminate the corporate tax. Corporations do not pay taxes. People pay taxes. They simply pass the tax on to the rest of us. I will propose legislation to greatly reduce the size and scope of government.

Families are the strength and foundation of any stable and prosperous society. Government has an obligation to promote and nurture strong families. The Congress must strengthen the middle class. The best way to do this is to reduce the tax burden for families. It is time to permanently eliminate the marriage penalty, and give additional tax breaks for college education. I will also encourage Americans to start saving again by proposing tax incentives for putting money in savings accounts/instruments including investing in America.

I will propose the elimination of the IRS, the implementation of a Fair Tax, tax incentives to establish new businesses, and remunerating businesses for collecting the new federal Fair Tax. Everyone will have a stake in America if they are paying part of the cost. I will initiate a national discussion of the Fair Tax. Do we want to keep the current oppressive, complicated, and inefficient system that penalizes people for hard work and success? Or, do we want a truly fair system where everyone is invested in America? Do we want independence or dependence on costly government welfare. We need to debate these questions. In the meantime, I will vote to greatly reduce regulations, restrictions, legal costs & litigation, and government duplication and bureaucracy. I support legislation for an independent audit of the Federal Reserve.

I will vote to end the death tax. I believe in fair trade with other nations, tax reduction, and not burdening taxpayers by bailing out every failed mortgage company, insurance company, investment bank, or hedge fund for risk taking or bad decisions. I want a full investigation of derivatives and other financial instruments that have caused so much economic turmoil. I also want an investigation of market manipulation by large traders to restore confidence in the stock markets. I will call for an independent investigation of the financial crisis, and prosecution of those responsible. I will vote against all bailouts. We cannot afford to continue to reward failure.

We have much work to do to restore our economy and provide good jobs for Americans. We can, once again, make America the economic engine that drives the world’s economy. First, we have to get government out of the way. The best way to enhance opportunity and prosperity is via the free market and limited government. When the People lead, the leaders will follow.

Massachusetts 4th District Candidate, Earl Sholley, Announces Campaign Kickoff 2010

For Immediate Release

Massachusetts 4th District Candidate, Earl Sholley, Announces Campaign Kickoff 2010

The Sholley for Congress Committee announced a two-week “Campaign Kickoff 2010″, on March 29th. Earl Sholley, a conservative candidate running against Barney Frank in the Massachusetts 4thDistrict, will spend the next two weeks appearing on both local and national radio, and television programs, in addition to speaking engagements throughout the 4th district. The Kickoff will culminate with a celebration event on Friday, April 9th in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

Norfolk, MA, March 29th, 2010 – Earl Sholley, a staunch fiscal conservative for the Massachusetts 4th Congressional District will begin his Campaign Kickoff 2010 beginning today. He is running for the U.S. Congress against incumbent Democrat, Barney Frank. Sholley has worked as a community activist, specifically in the areas of race relations and legal reform. He has lobbied extensively for budget transparency and better use of tax dollars & court reform and judicial accountability. Earl has served as a delegate to both the state and national Republican conventions. He holds a BS in History from the University of Scranton, a BS in Plant and Soil Sciences from the University of Massachusetts, and has studied at the University of Madrid, Spain on the Georgetown University Junior Year Abroad Program. Earl is a small businessman.

Sholley believes that the first order of business should be to balance the budget and downsize the federal bureaucracy. “The first order of business should have been to get our financial house in order. That also means fixing Medicare before even attempting Health Care Reform. The American People want real reform, not a radical transformation of our current system. The bribery, bullying, and backroom deals were a disgrace. Shame on those who voted for it. The American people do not want it, do not need it, and cannot afford it. Government run health care is a prescription for disaster.”

Sholley understands the needs of the 4th district, which has one of the highest unemployment rates in the Bay State. “Barney Frank has failed on job creation, the banks, and affordable housing ” Sholley stated. “It is time to fire him. The majority party continues to spend irresponsibly, ignoring the will and the needs of the People, and they are leaving a legacy of debt for future generations. We can and must restore fiscal sanity and limited government in November.”

Earl Sholley will be a guest on several local and national television and radio programs in the following two weeks. The Campaign Kickoff 2010 will end with a celebration event on April 9, 2010 from 7 to 10 PM at the Gallery X in New Bedford. The event will showcase and support Massachusetts South Coast businesses. Attendees will sample some of the 4th Districts local wine and cheese at the upscale gallery while enjoying musical entertainment and invigorating conversation in the number one fishing port in America, New Bedford, Massachusetts.

The President’s disrespect & bullying of Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is a severe setback for American diplomacy. President Obama has shown on numerous occasions that he has antipathy and animosity towards the sovereign State of Israel. The United States has a strategic interest in having Israel as our friend and ally in the Middle East. I support Israel one hundred percent!
